MarisaBot 1.0
MarisaBot is an intermediate difficulty bot where we leveraged the style of the character to create an experience that will help players learn to parry, while learning a little about the matchup for the character. MarisaBot should not cause you to develop bad habits in this matchup for most of the characters you choose to play against her, but if we encounter issues (reported from anyone) we will update the page with such notes. Since her goals and Point Systems are generally not related to very specific interactions with her moves, slight adaptations are left to the discretion of the user.
This bot is relatively easy to input, but requires certain inputs to be on the First Frame possible, for maximum effectiveness. Some detailed instructions are temporarily provided below, and will be moved to a separate page at a later date. For those who are used to using our SFV bots, please make note of this, as the method for getting FirstFrame inputs has changed.
This bot is not very different from the CPU’s behaviour, and it can be helpful to sometimes switch between the CPU (level 6 or higher) and the Bot to get a small variation in experience, while trying to use the same Point System. This also helps to get experience with a specific jump-in attack that would otherwise require a change to the bot inputs. Note that this change isn’t a real problem, but we mention it for convenience.
First select the ‘Record On Input’ option at the bottom of the Input Recording menu. Then set whatever input you need to enter at the start of the recording on a button that does not interact with the training menu in your control settings. This will allow you to hold the button before hitting your confirmation button (X on the PlayStation version) on the recording slot you want to input to begin recording. This will cause the bot to automatically accept the button you were holding during the menu screen even though you have set it to ‘On Input’. This is because the game is reading the input as soon as it can. There is enough transition time between the menu being cleared from the screen and the recording starting, however, that you can add in a directional input fairly easily. This is still more difficult than the old version because any inputs that need to quickly follow this will feel like they need to be done ‘on reaction’ to the recording start.
Gauge Settings
As with all bots Vitality Gauge P1 should be set to “100%”, and Vitality Recovery Settings P1 should be set to “Standard”. Drive Gauge P1 should be set to “6”, and Drive Gauge Recovery Settings P1 should be set to “Standard”. SA Gauge P1 should be set to “2” (or “3” if you need it for your combo practice), and SA Gauge Recovery Settings P1 should be set to “30F” (Access this option by pressing the appropriate button -Triangle on Playstation- when on the SA Gauge Recovery Settings P1 ‘Refill’ option).
Vitality Gauge P2 should be set to “100%”, and Vitality Recovery Settings P2 should be set to “Refill”. Drive Gauge P2 should be set to “6”, and Drive Gauge Recovery Settings P2 should be set to “Standard”. SA Gauge P2 should be set to “0”, and SA Gauge Recovery Settings P2 should be set to “Standard”.
These settings may change based on your goals, explained in the Difficulty section below.
Goals
Completing each action gives 1 point. Try to get to 10 points without dying.
Points System
- A - Hit Marisa with your best/longest Low Attack in neutral (for most characters this is their crouching HK)
- B - Parry her longer spaced attacks, particularly those that have long or recognizable start-ups
- C - Punish her Drive Impact or Super Art
- D - AntiAirs (including Air-to-Airs and Air Throws)
Difficulty Levels
- Easy - Points given for ABCD
- Medium - Points given for ABCD, but Punishes for C should only be counted if you punish or throw her Super Art
- Hard - Points given for ABC only, points for ‘A’ require a special-cancelable Low attack that allows for the possibility of using a drive rush cancel (but the cancel is not required to get the point) and for ‘B’ require a Perfect Parry
- Extreme - Points given for A and D only, no points given for Air-to-Airs (points still given for Air Throws), and otherwise the same as “Hard”, except that the Drive Rush Cancel is now required
