Focus Pressure Defense and Awareness


The KarinBot is an advanced bot, one of the most difficult to input, using nearly every input technique possible. To do this, the player will need to be able to understand frame-linked combos. Furthermore, to learn the optimal punishes for her actions, the player should learn to understand at least the basics of frame data.

Successful play against this bot, if it is input correctly, will increase awareness of spacing of the player character's normal buttons and certain special moves. Variants can be used to create more situations in which the player must be aware of Karin's options.


Gauge Settings

As with all bots, 1P Health should be set to "Normal". 1P CA Gauge should be set to "Normal", and 1P V-Gauge also set to "Normal".

Settings for 2P are Health - "Auto-Recover", V-Gauge - "Auto-Recover", CA Gauge - "Auto-Recover".


Goals

Completing each action gives 1 point. Try to get to 10 points without dying.

Action #1

Perfect

From close enough to hit, 5LK, 2MP, 2MK (should combo), hold 1 for a moment while the 2MK animation ends, 236, end recording immediately.

Acceptable

From close enough to hit, 5LK, 2MP, 2MK, hold 1 until Karin is just crouching, 236, end recording immediately.

Replay this by itself. It should result in her command dash, Seppo (236K).

Action #2

Push opponent into corner, find range at which 5LP will barely hit. Input is 5LP, walk forward, LP+LK as soon as it will successfully throw, hold 1, end recording just before end of throw animation.

Variant

Put hidden 214LP+MP early within throw animation. To learn to punish a difference sequence of Guren Ken, input 2LP+LK instead of standing LP+LK.

Use the Variant if you are unfamiliar with the timing or spacing to punish Karin's EX Ressenha.

Perfect

From close enough to hit, 5LK, 2MP, 2MK (should combo), 214, end recording immediately.

Acceptable

From close enough to hit, 5LK, 2MP, 2MK, 214, end recording immediately.

In the case of this one, there is no pause after the 2MK, input the 214 as buffered.

Action #4

Perfect

5HK+LK, hidden [2MP, 9], 66, 66, end recording before the end of the dash animation.

Acceptable

5HK+LK, hidden [2MP], 66, 66, end recording (extra dash inputs are ok).

Even for the Acceptable version, try to end the recording near the end of her forward movement in the dash.

Perfect

5MK, hidden [5MP, hold 5MP+MK and do not release], 5HP+HK, 236, end recording.

Acceptable

5MK, hidden [5MP], hold 5MP+MK and do not release, 5HP+HK, 236, end recording.

Variant

5MP can be input as either 5HP, 5MP+LP, or 5HP+LP.

Variant

Replace 236 with 214. 214 will cause more Ressenha (and possibly EX Ressenha). 236 causes more Tenko/Orochi.
