HeidernBot v1.0

Difficulty Moderate

Focus Match Up, Neutral and Defense

HeidernBot is part of a group of three bots that use the same inputs, under the Codename "Crimson Sky". Any other bot with their own version of the preceding sentence, can be used/switched to, after entering this one set of Action Inputs. Technically, Crimson Sky and Snow Angel only differ in Actions #1 and #2, so it is easy to switch between them. The three bots have unique point systems, purposes, and settings, so be sure to check other pages for that information. This bot works for Leona, Heidern, and Ash.

Heidern's sliding Assault Saber is a great gap closer for Heidern and can often catch an opponent off guard if they do not block it correctly. Because it closes so much space and is a cross up even though it may not look like one to some players it can be difficult to block the attack correctly. If you punish Heidern's sliding Assault Saber the bot improves in effectiveness against the player by unlocking some of his other 'Charge Input' moves and additional offense. The Heavy version of this slide attack is reactable (actually can be thrown before it hits) but not punishable on block and the EX is both unpunishable on block and very difficult to react to. The reason this is such a good and neccesary move to understand for this match up is that it compliment's Heidern's long reach very well and if you do not have good reactions for reading which version he is using and how to block or avoid it, Heidern can overwhelm most characters in neutral. If you try to do the correct things to earn the other points in HeidernBot's point system, it will become more likely for this move to hit you, making it an excellent simulation for the way players will try to layer their offense and cause stress.

Because of Heidern's long reach, most of his normal attacks are capable of at least trading if not out right beating out an opposing move with similar timing. This long reach translates to powerful whiff punishes from his closer attacks, making him a very tricky opponent to learn to stay close to. However if you manage to stick close to Heidern it becomes easier to punish his Assault Saber. It is vital that you learn how to stand your ground and poke or whiff punish Heidern in neutral, however, as he has plenty of zoning tools that will keep you from getting too much damage from further out. The approach to this, and which normals should be used, is different for every character and every style of playing a character. You will need to try many options and experiment with different approaches.

When Anti-Airing Heidern it is important to note what happens after the air-reset. In most cases this will be 'nothing' due to his move set. But sometimes you are also able to use an attack or be ready to whiff punish him.

Bots in KoF are able to be saved by activating the game's "Autosave" function. However, you can only save 1 bot at a time. Therefore, we have checked all characters using the inputs used to determine which of them can be useful, resulting in the codename "Crimson Sky" due to the two most explicitly effective characters. These have been given separate, specific pages, when we consider the result to be good enough to act as a functional bot for that character, but there are a few more where we didn't think that the bot reached that level, but a player could still get some use out of going a few rounds with that character with just these 'Crimson Sky' inputs. A full list of characters and related things can be found in the 'In Depth' section at the bottom of this page.

In-Depth

In addition to acting as the inputs for LeonaBot 1.0, HeidernBot 1.0, AshBot 1.0, the 'Crimson Sky' bot inputs also function somewhat reasonably with Meitenkun (experience with a limited subset of his abilities can be gained).
